An empath as I see it is someone who is VERY aware and perceptive of others thoughts, feelings and emotions. They often mistake them as their own thoughts, feelings and emotions much to the detriment of not being able to live their own life.
Have you ever had a great idea pop into your head and you got so excited to create something new and you couldn’t bring yourself to do it? Did all the thoughts in your head make it sound/feel impossible to accomplish? Who thoughts are those? Is it something your mom would have said or your dad? Or someone else in your life that is important to you?
This holiday season perhaps you will perceive whose thoughts you are hearing. By recognizing who they belong to you can then consciously choose them if they light you up or let them go if they make you feel heavy.
I have found it very empowering to ask this question every time I have a thought: Whose thought is that? It rarely, if ever is mine so I let it go. By practicing this with every thought for a week or two I found my mind getting much quieter and have found myself to be calmer, more creative and happy in my life.
It is also helpful to remember that everyone is this perceptive if they choose to realize it. They can perceive your thoughts too! This holiday I hope your thoughts that go out to everyone are supportive and uplifting. Give everyone the thoughts you would like to hear them thinking about you!
Happy Holidays!
